Legend of dead mountain in the Alps

According to the BBC, the Swiss climber was one of the few people who have conquered the 14 peaks of the Alps with a height over 8,000 meters. 

He started climbing at the age of 11 years and one of the major successes was when he climbed Everest without oxygen in 40 hours - and climbing at night, in 1986. The same year went to 38 peaks in Switzerland in 19 days.

His career however was marred due to a tragic incident in 2001. The Loretta killed just a few months the boy when he nodded to stop crying. The case was sentenced to four months suspended sentence in 2003. He had said then that shook his son for a while. Then put him in his crib and when she realized that something was amiss, called the ambulance.

According to the Associated Press the case had spread and had turned media attention to the dangers of such sudden movements by the parents, as at this age babies have very weak muscles in the neck.
